    Product Variant Sales Report?

I'm trying to run a sales report for a product on the variant level.

I've tried using both the Sales Report (by selecting just one product variant) and a date range, and I've also tried the Product Sales Report (by adding multiple product variants to a category and then reporting on that selected category.)

I'm getting a blank report with no sales shown using both methods.

Am I doing something wrong, or are variants not supported in the Reports modules?

    Thanks.

"Variant" products are not stored in the order tables as under their 'variant product code' rather they are stored as parent product code + attribute + option code.

Thanks for the reply Bruce - PhosphorMedia.

I tried to figure out how/where to incorporate that modified product code, but I can't see how it would work.

I probably wasn't specific enough that I'm using the native Reports from Miva dashboard.. "Sales Report" and "Product Sales Report". Products or categories are selected by using Miva's toggle window.. not really any way to customize the product codes that I'm seeing.

I did try pasting a couple code variations into the "Product" field on the "Sales Report" to test, but like before neither produced any results.

I may have figured out the problem.

We buy the Master Product in large continuous coils sold by the pound. The variants represent the different lengths that we cut and sell.

We don't mark those variants as "inventoried" since any length (variant) can be created until the coil is depleted.

So, maybe I'm not getting any results because the variants are not inventoried? I was hoping that the report would work regardless of whether not a variant was inventoried, and would still just show the number of times that a particular variant was part of an invoice.

        Any insights?

        Thanks!

**Update: Nix that theory. I found a similar product where variants are inventoried, but the report is still not working.

Well, i don't really know much about the report utilities, but i assume they work off of the Order Database tables, and has I mentioned, there is no direct relationship between order item data and variants. (Least I hope not, cause I spent about three hours trying to reverse engineer getting a variant's product_code from an attribute/option value--and that was in the basket where I also had the variant:sku to utilize.)
