We are wondering if anyone has any suggestions on how we can track inventory for an add on item. For example, let's say we have a gift bag that we offer certain items to be shipped in for a few dollars extra. Right now it's an attribute which works pretty well. The only issue is that we can't track inventory for this add on.
For example, if we have 50 pieces of the Purple gift bag and offer the option on 200 items to have the item ship in this gift bag, potentially we could get 100 orders for this add on but we only have 50 pieces. We have no way of controlling the inventory of this add on using the attribute.
I don't think we can handle it as a variant because all of the items it's offered on would have to pull from a central inventory for this add on.
Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
