    PayPal

Question on PayPal. We have MivaPay and Chase Orbital as payment gateway. Is adding PayPal support as basic as adding a new payment method on OPAY or do you need to do much more? People ask every month or two but everyone has been able to use other methods -so it isn't critical. We have enough modifications to every part of our site that I don't want to risk breaking something for PayPal since it isn't essential at this time.

The setup for PayPal is fairly straight forward. You link your PayPal account from within Miva and then it will give you two new methods. One for credit card and one for PayPal. If you don't want to use PayPal for credit card processing, you can hide the Credit Card option under Payment Method Rules.

Normally when setting up PayPal you'll also want to add the PayPal button to your basket and other pages as well for faster checkouts. Using PayPal on these pages completely bypasses Miva's checkout process since everything is done in PayPal modal, then the customer is redirected back to Invoice once they have paid.

Here are the docs on how to set it up:

My concern in part is that we don't use any built in shipping charges - Miva did some custom programming for us way back where all shipping are custom upcharges. We also use a json call to pull a shipping discount and we have custom payment options to 'buy on account' and to 'submit as quote' so I think if we decide to go ahead I may need a dev server again and have to have Miva or Bruce (PhosphorMedia) do a deeper dive to make sure I don't create a problem. Thanks for the rundown.
