The Braintree docs currently say [QUOTE]If you would also like to display the PayPal Checkout button on the basket screen you will need to setup PayPal Checkout using the Express Checkout Module./QUOTE]. That is somewhat counter-intuitive since PayPal Express Checkout and/or Payments Pro module has been discontinued. Can the PayPal Commerce Platform be used alongside the Braintree module to enable the store to take advantage of the PayPal checkout button on the BASK and the other PayPal Credit offers?

Yes you should use PayPal Commerce Platform module for express checkout. It can be used side by side with Braintree. We'll get the docs updated to reflect that. -
