    Re: PayFlow Pro down?

Payflow regular support is closed today, they didn't have a message about this when I called it to see. Premium support was open but would only provide vague answers like 'real soon' and 'working on it'.

Our Vsign processing has been back for about 45 minutes (fingers crossed)

Starting to hear from customers that are finding it to be working again, might be in the clear now.

Hmmm, that's interesting... My first 3 attempts to reach Premium Support failed (got disconnected after being on hold for 15 minutes), but standard PayPal/Payflow support answered the phone on 3rd ring. Go figure. That's how I was able to get transferred to someone in Premium Support. It seems like they were simply not answering any calls there as they were ringing off the hook and with the holiday today, they are severely understaffed.

We still see connectivity problems and their recorded message still says the system is experiencing intermittent problems...

We just reverted back to Payflow Pro from Simple and think it is working now.

Just received notification that they're now considering the outage resolved; still waiting for explanation on what happened.

                Re: PayFlow Pro down?

We've had a number of clients update their tickets letting us know they are able to process transactions now just fine - though Payflow support still has the announcement that they are "experiencing intermittent issues"...

                  Re: PayFlow Pro down?

Paypal Manager is definitely not working yet. If I try to do a report of today's transactions I get the following error message:

                  Error: Report execution has failed.

The same error happens if I go to Virtual Terminal to possibly capture multiple transacitons.

And, what's up with Payflo Support being closed for President's Day? What crock of s**t? These people should offer support for their product 24/7 in my opinion!

So is there any gateway provider worth a darn anymore? I'm ready to switch. I had so much trouble with the fraud service going down that I finally turned it off and decided to take the risk. After missing hundreds in sales today I'm ready to go somewhere else, if there anything better...

I'll see if I can find out more about the manager errors.

They do offer premium support for an additional fee which gets you 24x7 access to them.

Only other ones that have a pretty good level of reliability are authorize.net and Cybersource. (Miva Payment is Cybersource, just FYI)

Authorize.Net has been VERY reliable for the last few years.

                            Re: PayFlow Pro down?

I haven't waded through manager too much, but I can verify that orders have been going through successfully all afternoon. This would have been one of my biggest sales days. The last failed transaction was at 11:08 am (PST) and everything since 11:12 am (PST) has been going through fine.

Verisign was always so much better than the rest. Have they sunk below the others now that PayPal took over? IMO any downtime is unacceptable. It's not like I can sit here 24/7 checking manager every 5 minutes to see if I need to switch over to simple validation. I sell downloads, so if the order doesn't go through automatically it's a lost sale.

I may have to check out Authorize.net.

Depending on how far you go back, they're still easily the most reliable, I think this is the third or fourth outage they've had in as many years. If, however, you analyze from the point that PayPal took over, they've had two outages while I think authnet and cybersource have had none; one of those outages was the disaster when they moved the servers to PayPal, the other being today of course. I think a higher percentage of customers use Payflow though, and those that use it also tend to do many more transactions than others, so it may just be that the others have had outages and it just hasn't been noticed.

                                Well lets be fair here.

This is the internet - and ALL the payment gateways have outtages.

I think the difference is measured in how the gateway's support handles the outtage. Whether it be with quick technical resolution, notification, or dealing with the customers that are affected.

There are outtages all the time that get resolved immediately that go relatively unnoticed, with any gateway. Others are less instantly, but are handled much better.

In the past, AuthorizeNet and Verisign have shown very good response and communication when issues like this happen.
