Re: Bootstrap Framework for Miva Merchant - Support Thread

    Hey Guys,

I'm working on applying this framework to our dev site, which is a mirror of our live site. For the most part I'm not having many issues, but the Global Footer and the BODY Tag Content were not imported or overwritten. I'm pretty sure there should at least be Global Footer content with links to JQuery, .js etc. I downloaded the latest version of the framework this morning.

    Any ideas?

On a whim, I decided to plug in the older JQuery version (1.8.3), and so far haven't noticed any real issues, though there have been some puzzling behaviors that may be the result of the downgrade, or simply of trying to get these two similar technologies to play nice together.

Am I going to run into problems with having done this? Is this version of Bootstrap compatible with JQuery 1.8.3, or am I headed for disaster? The header/footer and site content are all responding (though there are some subtle rendering differences and slightly odd behaviors I'm struggling to figure out, and with three or four levels of media query based style sheets, it's probably no wonder), and I haven't tested actually making a purchase yet, but I've gotten pretty far down this road. Hopefully I can continue.
I'm still very much wondering about this. I've continued to move ahead developing under JQuery 1.8.3, and still haven't run into any show-stopping issues - at least none that I suspect are resulting from the downgrade. But I'd sure hate for those only to arise *after* I've done all the work.

In lieu of any answers from Miva, I've been trying to research this on my own. Not sure how reliable the info was, but I did read on a message board somewhere that Bootstrap 3 had some dependencies on a minimum of 1.9, but I'm hoping like heck that if this is true, I can still squeak by. The store I'm working with is bone-simple (which sounds a little laughable now considering the gyrations I've gone through to get to this point). But I still haven't tested a purchase (I'm waiting for an opportune moment as this will involve closing my live store and throwing my payment processor into test mode), and my concern is that's where I'll start to see it break down.

The team who built this at Miva are all at IRCE in Orlando this week.

We will definitely be answering all of these questions but we're going to be a few days behind, especially this week.

Re: Bootstrap Framework for Miva Merchant - Support Thread

That's kind of a bummer, Rick, seeing is that Miva Customer Support is unable to help and has referred me to this board to resolve any questions. I honestly don't have a few days to wait, especially in light of the fact that all the work I'm putting in may be going in the wrong direction.

For whatever it's worth, regarding my concern in the post above, I decided to bite the bullet and test a transaction. To my dismay (if not shock), I get the following error when trying to complete the purchase:

"Unable to authorize payment: Secure token inquiry failed"

No idea if this is related to my question regarding JQuery versions or not, but a google search turns up nothing on the phrase. I'm using the exact same payment configuration settings as I have in my current, working live store.

Looks like I'm back to Support with this one. Hopefully this error is unrelated.

But holy jeez, you guys launch a brand new feature and then entirely clear out the only office that provides support for that feature, all in the same week? Ouch.

You're killin' me, Miva. I want to still love you, but you're killin' me.

Re: Bootstrap Framework for Miva Merchant - Support Thread

            Halfacre,

Your payment error sounds like it's related to your gateway. If the ip address of your dev site is not set up on your gateway firewall you're not going to get through, throwing this type of error. Just guessing, but I've had this issue before.

Have you tried using Simple Validation or Check payment methods for testing?

              Ron,

Thanks for the reply. I had the same suspicion (that it was gateway related). I've contacted my payment processor to see what can be done.

I haven't tried (or heard of) these methods you mention for testing. If you can point me to where I can get some info on doing so, I'd be very grateful.

              Thanks again!

                Halfacre,

In the admin under Payment Settings in the left nav.

If you already have a gateway assigned, I would just leave it. Just check the box next to Check Payment, then you can test this way. To remove the Check Payment method at a later date you'll need to delete your test orders paid by check first, or disable the module. Simply unchecking the box won't work if there are orders assigned to the method. I believe there are also some free test order modules to be had.

If this is a new "Soon to be Live" site, it does sound like your processor hasn't added you to their firewall. I always run into this issue with Chase, for example...

Re: Bootstrap Framework for Miva Merchant - Support Thread

                  halfacre,

Using an older version of jQuery should work just fine with this bootstrap framework. Where you'll run into limitations if any, would be in specific bootstrap feature functionality that relies on later version of jquery. There isn't anything as far as i'm aware in the Miva bootstrap framework what should not work on 1.8.3.

Regardless, the version of jQuery you use will have not impact on core Miva functionality like the payment processing. Ron is correct above, the error you are getting means your IP address is not approved or your gateway is not configured correctly. Our support team should help you get that part figured out.

                    Hey Guys,

Does anyone have a copy of the default Global Footer and the BODY Tag Content for miva_bootstrap they could shoot my way?

Everything with my install seems to be working fine, aside from that missing content.

                    Cheers!

I installed framework bootstrap in my upcoming store, but I need to trouble shoot a couple of hiccups-

First is that when I put images into the carousel and preview on another page, the carousel stops- no sliding action.
I went back to the instruction video several times, stopping and making sure that character for character, I was following instructions. Still nothing. When I reverted (recall history) in the storefront/header & footer/ to the original placeholder framework bootstrap install, nothing. No movement on the slide show.
When I click on the "previous" or "next" side of the slides, the page scrolls down in a jump.

                      Any ideas?

First is that when I put images into the carousel and preview on another page, the carousel stops- no sliding action.
I went back to the instruction video several times, stopping and making sure that character for character, I was following instructions. Still nothing. When I reverted (recall history) in the storefront/header & footer/ to the original placeholder framework bootstrap install, nothing. No movement on the slide show.
When I click on the "previous" or "next" side of the slides, the page scrolls down in a jump.

                          Any ideas?

Sounds like something has been removed from the default calls for java or css and/or something is now conflicting. I would try reverting the global footer, head tag and sfnt page code etc. until it works again and then go forward from there.

Does anyone have a copy of the default Global Footer and the BODY Tag Content for miva_bootstrap they could shoot my way?

Everything with my install seems to be working fine, aside from that missing content.

                            Cheers!

When I added the default global footer and BODY tag content, I get an error "At 83:43-83:46 - syntax error, unexpected IDENTIFIER" - I guess that's the code line "<div class="clearfix"></div>" ?

Everything I posted was for the global footer but I think the default body tag content for the framework was empty besides <body>
I wouldn't expect this <div class="clearfix"></div> to be causing an error but you would have to check with Miva

                                Letterbank,

I found an issue with the call to the jquery library not working on secure pages. Anything you click on, from a secure page, requiring jquery bounces you to the home page without jquery being loaded.

In the Global Footer replace this:

                                Code:
                                <script src="http://ajax.googleapis.com/ajax/libs/jquery/1.10.2/jquery.min.js"></script>
                                With this:

                                Code:
                                <script src="//ajax.googleapis.com/ajax/libs/jquery/1.10.2/jquery.min.js"></script>
This may solve some of your issues.
