Although I'm no longer with MIVA, I will definitely make an appearance at the Conference to visit old friends and catch up with what's been going on. (There's lots of updates on my side!)

I'm even flying down from Seattle just to see everyone. (Ok, I really need to help finish up some packing at home, but it's a nice thought... :))

So, who else is going to be around? I have a list of who I need to visit and I want to make sure I can check your names off. So all you old-timers better speak up! ;)
I'll be there 8:30am on Monday.

For the past few years I've asked the Miva folks that they not schedule this during the peak of hurricane season. Unfortunately, us folks in the SE US coastal areas are not big enough numbers to matter so the date remains the first week in Sept. It appears that on the one year anniversery of Katrina, the folks in Florida, Alabama and Mississippi are going to get slammed again.

Now I have a conference registration and two airline tickets that will go unused. I don't think Miva gives refunds. :-( The airline will give a partial so I only lose a few hundred there. I don't think I'll be going to any more Miva conferences unless they move the date to a little more hospitable weather week.

Not to mention that the last week of August is still peak season so the airfares are at their most expensive, the hotels are full and at their most expensive etc. etc. Late September / Early October would be a far better time.

Disappointing but understandable you can't make it Bill.

Hear, Hear! For the last three conferences I've been stuck in California an extra 1-2 days because of Florida airports being closed. If things with Ernesto stay on schedule, I'll be stuck again.

And it is peak season. I don't think I've ever paid as much for an airline ticket as this time around.

Looks like we have a storm that can't make up its mind - now it's heading up the Atlantic coast - who knows what it will do tomorrow. I'll be in around noonish.

At this point I've spent about $1200 on just air fare. Somehow I managed to reserve a flight out yesterday instead of today six weeks ago, $400 or so, went to check my departure time yesterday afternoon and found that I was supposed to have already been on the plane, Continental/Expedia could care less and after all the penalties I'd effectively have no credit left towards a new ticket, told them what I thought of that, reserved a new ticket last night on US Air, $700, missed my flight this morning thanks to traffic, more penalties and fees, $100. :) This better be the best conference ever. LOL
