Create Order From Review Baskets Module

I think a great feature to add to this module would be to be able to create a new order with the click of a button straight from the basket you are viewing within this module.

    Here is why:

Although our checkout process has come a long way from where it started and has generally become a lot more clear and trouble free, we still get confused customers who call to place the order over the phone even after they have already added the product(s) to the basket and sometimes even filled out ship to and bill to information.

It would greatly reduce the time spent on the phone to get the order placed for the customer if we were able to find their basket in the review baskets module and just click a button to create a new order from that basket. It would also improve workflow.

It would specifically be good for us with our customers that are trying to place orders for personalized family trees which often have up to 20 or more items in the basket and each item having name and birth date information.

Aside from our specific situation, overall, I think it would be a great addition to the module and become a tool to give any business the opportunity to provide great and fast customer service to customers having trouble with online ordering.

Just my $0.02. Hopefully it gets added to the list!

If that's the only issue you are looking to address, I believe you can do that through "Shop As Customer". The only downside I'm aware of is that the customer needs still have a current session.

SidFeyDesigns I think that's a great idea. And why not? That's where that would belong. Good for asking.

I have always thought that Review Baskets utility was very much lacking in useful features and seemed like a beta version that got forgotten/never finished more than anything.

Bruce - PhosphorMedia I was unaware that module had that feature. I still think it would be a great addition to the review baskets module but I will definitely look into the Shop As Customer module.

        Thanks!

Bruce - PhosphorMedia the customer actually needs to have an account, be logged in, and have a current session. So it is a bit limited unfortunately.

I was going to mention the "Shop As Customer" but as you pointed out, they must have an account and at least a basket (session) to be able to take control of.

              True...but here's a thought.

I wonder if you could make use of the abandoned basket template. All you'd need to do is figure out how miva is getting the basket session id for this link

              &mvte:urls:BASK:auto_sep;Session_ID=&mvte:global:B asket:session_id;

That you could query with the customer's bill or ship to email.

Don't have time right this second but I'll take a look later.

Bruce - PhosphorMedia hmm that is a very interesting idea. I'm definitely into seeing if that might be a viable option. Looking forward to what you find out.
