Inventory Variants Quantity Problem:

Is this a bug, or a feature?

When I edit the inventory of my products at the attribute level using the popup window on the inventory variants screen, and then click save, the Quantity column on the main inventory variants screen still says 1 for each particular attribute.

Isn't that quantity level supposed to show the actual quantity I set in the popup window after clicking the Edit Inventory button?

BTW: I noticed in the Merchant Tutorials video that the quantity column shows 1 for all variants, even though Chuck does have different quantities for the different T shirts when he clicks on the Edit Inventory popup window, too.

If by "variant" you mean "product attribute", then what you describe is not a bug - it's been designed this way and worked this way ever since the earliest Miva Merchant releases.

Think about it this way - when you have a base product with multiple attributes, and these attributes all have different prices, but are not ALL required to be selected, you'd be forcing the maximum price to be displayed in product listings, searches and category pages. It is more logical to display the base price and treat that as "from $xxx", then the customer can add attributes which increase product price. Sort of like when you shop online for shirts and S, M, L are $49.99 but XL is $52.99 and XXL is $54.99. That's pretty common and universally understood concept.

That column is the number of Quantity of that Attribute you want decrimented from Inventory when someone adds to cart.

You need to click the Inventory Variants Tab, use the Sorting Boxes to see the subset you want, and then click the Edit Inventory tab in the upper ride side of that box.

When attempting to enter a new order through Manage Orders, I receive the following error "Miva Merchant Returned an invalid response. Function: Order_Recalculate_Charges Response:" when I click the recalculate button within the estimate shipping/taxes/other charges and select any of the Fedex services. I am using Viking Coders Fedex Module. The other shipping selections work fine (built in USPS shipping module, weight based, price based).

I do not know if this is a bug with PR7 or with the Google Checkout module, however when Google Checkout declines and then subsequently cancels an order, the status in Manager Orders gets changed to shipped. It should either leave the order as pending or change the status to canceled.

Login/Logout issues:


I upgraded yesterday, the installation seemed to work ok with no error messages or interruptions. However , I have 4 issues all related to Login and/or Logout. Without getting into the specific details of each Login/Logout issue, I'm thinking they are related to 1 or 2 root causes. Is there an area in particular I should look at? The issues are experienced in my public website frontend, not the Miva Admin backend. I thought at first it was replacing the

<a href="&mvt:global:sessionurl;...

with

<a href="&mvt:global:secure_sessionurl...

but that seemed to go only part way. It happens in the BASK, OSEL, and OPAY screens. I'll get logged out when moving from 1 screen to another, and interestingly at some point my Logout button no longer works.

That's related to either your cookie settings (doubtful) or some Template Code changes you need to make to fully support PR7. I know a couple people have had this issue in support and I'm sure they can fix it on the QT.

Sorry I missed that post. That is certainly weird and implies the VC FedEx module doesn't like something. Have you checked to see if they have an update?

Out of curiosity, would there ever be a time when you would want MORE than 1 to be decrimented form the inventory when someone adds one to cart?

I am assuming it would ALWAYS be 1 in that quantity field unless you were using an Inventory Kit, where a kit might have something like, 1 small, 2 Mediums, and 1 Large, and the quantity column would then display 1 for small and large, but 2 for medium.

Also, my two cents; it might be nice to have the quantity available of each particular attribute at least listed (if not editible) directly on the Inventory Variants tabs, so you can at least quickly see whether you need to go into the Edit Inventory popup window and change them or not.

Yes, the latest version is installed. What I find strange is that the Fedex shipping options populate correctly in the drop down box, however when you click the recalculate button you receive the error.

Are you thinking Component Template or Page Template? I'm going through the list of recommended Template changes on this site but haven't completed all of them yet.

I've got U.S.P.S. Online Rate Calculation active under Shipping Settings. I've set up USPS Web tools and got my production URLs.

I've unchecked all the Available Shipping Methods for this module (as I don't want my customers to see any of these methods -- I simply want to use this module to print shipping labels).

When I try to generate a shipping label, I'm only given a limited selection of Shipping Methods to choose for the label being printed:

• USPS Priority Mail
• USPS First Class Mail
• USPS Parcel Post
• USPS Media Mail
• USPS Library

How can I change this list within Miva Merchant? Or, is that done by calling USPS and getting them to change my USPS account settings?

That may be all we're capable of printing right now, I'm not sure. I do know the list comes from USPS, so I would try calling them.

Admin and Email character set (charset) issue

I have a problem with the accents display both in the Admin section and email order confirmation (Mail Manager of Emporium Plus) that are sent. Did you chnage anything?

Prior to the upgrade I had resolved the issue of character set (charset) by inserting in the .htaccess –> AddDefaultCharset utf-8 and in the "main section" of Mail Manager –> %charset|utf-8%.

The new version does allow for it, but following the old process. Whether or not we build it into the new Manage Orders screen depends on demand and other things.

From what we can tell, close to 95% of our customers who use Real Time Gateways, Auth and Capture at the same time, so capturing after the fact is sort of rare.

With that said, I certainly see why that would be a logical addition and we'll explore it.

Miva needs to address this issue sooner than later. Even though multiple orders can be processed within the legacy order processing, any changes made to any order within the new Manage Orders removes them from legacy processing, which of course means that every order has to be capture individually. In other words, you have to batch the orders and process them in legacy before you can change the status of any order in Manage Orders. For those of us that are trying to show realtime order status results to our customers, this is really an impossible task.

I realize that this issue does not affect those who perform an authorize and capture during order receipt, however for those of us doing this the "right" way this seems like some type of penalty. I have already spent several hours these past few days performing individual capturing of transactions, which is a task that until this week took only a couple of minutes. I can not even imagine the future hours that must be dedicated until this issue is rectified.
