    Chase Paymetech vs Authorize.net

I dislike working with credit card processors, so we have kept the one we use in our brick/mortar store. I've always considered merchant services salesmen as being quite deceptive.

Authorize.net is the only gateway our processor accepts.

The Authorize.net module is weak. I have a few questions about Chase Paymentech in order for us to consider switching.

    Chase Paymentech:
    1) Does it allow for partial captures. An initial partial capture, along with a second capture.

    2) Does it allow for refunds. Both partial and full?

    3) Does it allow for capturing funds greater than the initial authorization? Sometimes a customer will increase their order by phone, and we would like to capture funds greater than the initial authorization.

I may have a few more questions that I'll post to this thread.

I'm going to need to feel confident about the Chase module before switching to them.

    Thank you.

    1 and 2 are a yes.

3 is coming when we add the wallet functionality.

What is "weak" about the auth.net module?

The built in Auth.net module only does Auth and Capture via admin, none of the new PR7 features are built into the Auth.net module (yet).

So that limits you (via admin) to no partial captures, no from admin refunds/voids, etc...

We are getting close to switching back to simple validation. It is getting confusing needing to process some transactions in Miva admin and some on the Authorize.net site.

I was hoping Chase Paymentech would allow captures larger than the authorization. (Thanks for letting me now that feature will be coming)

Maybe I'm missing something? It seems like this process shouldn't be difficult. Maybe we should stop using Miva Admin from capturing anything, and simply using the Authorize.net site for everything. Or, go back to simple validation - even though the 3digit code is not captured this way.

The larger auth thing is trickier than it sounds since you need to either store the card (which you actually can do today, just encrypt, store the card, run an extra auth for the new amount) or if you can't store the card you need a token system to generate the new auth.

We are building a whole set of Payment API's around tokenezation but that's a bigger task.

If I was using Auth.net today, I would probably do all of my capturing etc... in the Auth.net admin vs the Miva admin. Chase I would be reversed.
            Thanks,
