Well, that's a good question. That explains what the Category Matching: field meant. I see that the examples use a numeric code. Where do I find the numeric codes at the Google site?

That is just an example. That example is probably for shopzilla. Google wants a breadcrumb. Here is an example line from my category match input.
1AAA=Software > Computer Software > Business & Productivity Software|

I'm in the process of building the category matching & trying to test it too when I noticed that the Unique Product Identifier "Brand" is not being recognized. I'm getting an error "Missing Unique Product Identifiers" for products that have a brand assigned to them. I'm using a custom field for the brand and have it in both the header and the link (as previously posted).

Is Google looking for something else?

Per Google, "You need to submit at least two attributes of 'brand', 'gtin' and 'mpn', but we recommend that you submit all three if available." If they have brand it is looking for one of the other attributes, eg the manuf part number. For example, in my store the brand is Emporium Plus for all items and the mpn is the product code.

with the quotes around it?

Yes. Make sure you are using TDF v5.068 or newer. The category matching input goes way back to the beginning of TDF a few years ago. It expected your store product code on the left of the = and the shopping portal's category on the right. With this new Google requirement, they are wanting the whole breadcrumb to their categories which necessitated changing how that input is parsed. v5.068 has the new parsing code for that input.

are you sure there should be quotes around Google’s product taxonomy? I don't have quotes around mine and did not receive any error messages. Though honestly I don't even know how it is currently being used to check it in Google Product Search.

Google's example for Products Feed Specification (Text/Tab delimited files) does not have quotes around it either.

Apparel & Accessories > Clothing > Dresses

Okay thanks - the quotes came from using the Google "Browse The Taxonomy" Text: output - it had quotes around it, so I've been copy & pasting that output.

This is a question that really doesn't have to do with the new requirements, but it's one that seems to give me fits on occasion.

I generated new feeds today and now I'm getting the warning "Expiration date is too far in the future" - but I haven't changed anything.

This is what I'm using to generate the Expiration date

%%year:30%-%month:30%-%day:30%%

The date that was generated in today's feed 2011-10-03

Have I just picked the wrong time of day to generate the feed and then upload it?
