    Help with Coupon Redemption Module

I am using Miva Merchant 5.5 Production Release 8 Update 4 Miva Merchant Engine v5.13 Database API: mysql

We had someone install the Coupon Redemption module for us, for Miva 5 but I am still confused as to how to get it to work. (We are using Version: 5.0570 )

I want to create a coupon that will give free shipping to US customers when the order total is over $25.00.

What exactly do I need to do to get this working? I created the coupon but am unsure of which type to choose to give free shipping over $25.00.

We use weight based shipping and we will only give the free shipping on Media Mail - not other options like FedEx.

I don't feel the documentation is clear enough for those new to the module to understand it.

    HELP!

Re: Help with Coupon Redemption Module

Select the free shipping type. Put the minimum order at 25.00. Change the label for the coupon to say Free Media Mail. If they use the coupon, that is the shipping they will get free. That is the easiest way to set it up.

If you want Free Media Mail as a selection in the shipping method rather than simply using the coupon, you'll need to setup the basket coupon feature. See the section called "Customer Interface". It is a bit more complex to use a basket coupon.

Do you mean change the label where is says Coupon Display Label on the Admin page or the name of the coupon code?

Have you ever thought of doing a Youtube video to show how this works for those of us who are beginners?

The instructions usually suffice. Did you see the prompt when setting up the coupon that said "Alternate Basket Label"? When you are not sure what goes in the input in the coupon module, simply click on the prompt for that input. This is the input where you would put Free Media Mail.

Some work better with being visually shown, rather than trying to figure out what you are reading. The instructions are hard to follow. I don't understand what this means under Getting Started...

This example is for 1 for 1 points creation and .1 for 1 redemption.

Okay, I think I was in the wrong part of the instructions, when posting the text above. Please forgive me.

I will try to read through this more and figure it out. Anyway, a YouTube view would take away a lot of the intimidation and I believe it would even make more people want to use your module.... as it wouldn't be so difficult to figure out.

A youtube video would take an hour to cover all the features in that module. Instead, simply click the prompt that says "Alternate Basket Label" and it will tell you what that input is for. For example, Free Media Mail. As far as I know, this is the only Miva Merchant 3rd party module that has context sensitive help. Instead of digging through lengthy install/usage docs or watching hour long videos, you simply click the prompt. The context sensitive help was added because the module is complex and does so many different things.

Re: Help with Coupon Redemption Module

I think a video would be well worth your time, since there is SO much this module can do. Beginners want to purchase this module, in addition to the programers.

We have a custom field with the Retail Price of a product. The Miva Price field, we he changed to say Our Price. We would like to take the coupon discount off of the Retail Price - do you have any suggestions how this could work?

Re: Help with Coupon Redemption Module

It won't do that. The coupon is based on the price field in the basket. The value in the basket database price field is often NOT the same as the price field from the product database (which your custom field is tied to). The basket price can be changed from the product database price by a variety of means; e.g. customer is in a discount price group or some other 3rd party module has changed the basket price. You may need a custom module if you are trying to base a coupon on a specific custom field in your store. Now if it is a simple thing, like there is only one coupon code and anybody who uses it will get a discount of from any product using a specific custom field, you may be able to do that with one of the tool kit modules.

Okay. Not doing Price Groups... just trying to get the basics working as I am new to Miva. If I use a Free or Reduced shipping, what do I put in the Value field? If I leave it as zero, it doesn't give a discount. If I want free shipping on their entire order, how do I know what to put in that field?

Re: Help with Coupon Redemption Module

You put 0 in the value field for free shipping. If it is not working you need to make sure you installed the module correctly. The CIM Activity Log (cim_log.mvc) has to be installed an assigned for any of the free/discounted shipping coupons to work. If you are having issues, you need to use my support system. See my sig block below.

Can multiple coupons be used on the check out page and if so, how?

Or is the only way to use multiple coupons by using the Instant Coupons?

Re: Help with Coupon Redemption Module

You have two options for multiple coupons: instant and basket coupons. The basket coupon is probably a misnomer since it can be used on most pages. See the install doc section entitled "Customer Interface". It discusses all three types. With that type you copy and paste the form onto the page you want it. It does have some limitations.

If you go to the test store there is a coupon demo of many of the different coupons to help you understand them better. http://www.pinemporium.com/mm5/merch...&Store_Code=PE

It looks like in your test site, the Redeem Coupon field is on the basket page and it shows how many coupons have been redeemed above the box. It also shows a Redeem Coupon button, so you can use multiple coupons.

Our redeem coupon field s is on the checkout page, under the credit card info. Is is supposed to be on the basket page instead?

We don't have a Redeem Coupon button either. Should we have one?

We had someone install this for us, so I want to be sure it is working right before we try to use it.

Re: Help with Coupon Redemption Module

As I previously said, there are three types. The checkout coupon only allows one per order. The other two types, instant and basket coupons, can be multiple per order. The basket coupon has a separate redeem button. If you followed the instructions I referenced in my previous post and put that code on the basket page you would see the prompt with a redeem button. I referred you to the test store to see how that works. The checkout coupon does not use a separate button. The idea is to cut down on the number of buttons a customer has to click when checking out. Combining the coupon redemption with the shipping and payment selection meets that goal but it limits that type to one per order. 99% of the time you will only have one per order so it makes checkout more efficient and less confusing.
