Re: Help with Coupon Redemption Module

The guy who originally installed our module went in and pasted the code needed to show the coupon field and coupon redemption button on our basket page, so that is now showing up on our basket page. Thank you for helping me understand.

On your test site (basket page) it shows (above the coupon field) how many coupons you have redeemed. Is that something that needs to be set up somewhere, or should it automatically be showing that information above the coupon field on the basket page?

Also, how do I explain to the customer which coupons to use on which page (basket or checkout)? I am not sure I even understand it yet.

Please refer to the install doc. Look at the paragraph "Limit Number Coupons Per Order". It has copy and paste code in that section.

Re: Help with Coupon Redemption Module

Thanks. I will ask our installer to add that code too..

How does the customer know which page the coupon must be entered on - whether the basket page or the checkout page?

You would have to tell them if you have both. Most stores are going to use one or the other method. The coupon module has a lot of flexibility in how it works. You decide which kind of coupons you are going to use and how many can be redeemed. I suspect most stores allow one coupon per order. If they allow multiple they are product specific, e.g. the kind of coupons you use in a grocery store for a specific product. For those you would enter the coupon on the basket screen. For the one per order (usually things like 10% off your order) those are at checkout because they are not product specific. You have to study the various coupon abilities and decide how you want to implement them in your store.

Re: Help with Coupon Redemption Module

Is there a way to set up a coupon for the customer to choose at least 2 out of 7 products and receive $5 off their total order?

I am using the Fixed Discount, but as long as the customer purchases at least one of the eligible products, it lets them use the coupon. I have a minumum order set to $10 but if they put something else in their cart, it will let them use the coupon.

The Apply % Discount Only to the Above only for the percent discount so that won't work for us. Is there a way that it can be set to they have to purchase at least two eligible products for the coupon to work?

No any 2 of 7 feature. Why not use the percent off and put a max value of 5.00 on it. Then set the minimum order value appropriate to when you would want to start the discount. You can even make the order minimum based on just the eligible products.

Re: Help with Coupon Redemption Module

This week I am trying to set up a coupon that will limit it to certain sub-categories. It doesn't seem to be working right though.
Will the coupon only work with the main categories and not the sub-categories?

These are the sub-categories I want to limit eligible products to:

                Books-FF|CDs|Single-CD|DVDs|DVD-Single|Spanish-Books|

I am doing the Fixed Discount and taking $5.00 off an order of $12.00 or more

Re: Help with Coupon Redemption Module

Look at the install doc. The list of categories must begin with ~ as the first character in the line. You put the word Books at the beginning of the line. Please read the instructions closely.

I tried it both ways with and without the ~

                    I will try it again.

If I enter in this category ~Books-FF and it is not a parent category, will it still work?

Or does it have to be a parent category?

Re: Help with Coupon Redemption Module

You have to list each category. PLEASE look at the install doc. There is an exact example showing two categories. Parent vs sub has nothing to do with it. You list each category code to be included.

Combo discount means every product in the list has to be in the basket to get the discount.

In the section that deals with the eligible products it says for products "For excluding, put the minus character at the very beginning of the list." Since the tilde "~" character is already at the beginning of the list in the eligible products input, you cannot put the minus "-" there. The answer is no.
