UPS Online Tools Custom Integration module by Viking Coders & print shipping labels

Greetings,

I installed the UPS Online Tools Custom Integration module by Viking Coders to overcome the UPS not allowing other shippers to show in the shipping selection screen... works GREAT and client is happy with that. Now they can offer USPS and UPS shipping (which is the way it should be in the first place as I thought we lived in a free market country... oops sorry I digress... back to the point... ).

However, in the Manage Shipments section the UPS shipping option from the Custom Integration module are not showing in the generate shipping labels drop menu (only the USPS options). I have in put a request with the developer to see if they have a resolution, but figure I'd check here to see if anyone has a solution.

You'll need to use our module to generate labels, the VC module doesn't do labels.

You should be able to enable both without issue and just uncheck all of the shipping choices in the built in module so they won't show up in the store.

It does look like we're making progress with UPS on getting permission to display USPS rates side by side, but only time will tell.

Hi, this worked great. thanks for the advice. I am wondering if there is something similar to the Endicia for the UPS labels and automatic charges?

You can print labels using the UPS module and it will automatically bill your UPS account just like Endicia does for US Postage. The only module that prints labels sans postage is the native USPS Module and that's a limitation of what USPS offers.

Looks like this in only available if you subscribe to Viking Everything - is that true? Only found 2 modules in that "Everything" bundle that I would/could use. Does anyone know a module that we can get that will fix the problem with UPS online tools?

What UPS problem? Rate Shopping? It's not a tech problem but a legal problem.

Sorry I wasn't more clear . . . What I meant is that currently the UPS Online Tools module can only be used if you choose to exclusively use UPS as your shipper.
There are some suggestions here in the forum to rig it and use the Federal Express module but just change the labels in order to get the Fed-X rates but still ship via UPS. The problem with that solution is that we who have long standing UPS accounts would not receive our discounted rates and would still have to acutely monitor the shipping of every order to make sure we have it close. Another option is to subscribe to a service with an outside company to install a different module that does allow us to have UPS and other shipping options available in our stores.
From reading the forum posts here, I was under the impression that Miva Merchant was working on a solution. Since the posts were kind of dated, I just wanted to see if there had been any progress with some kind of solution.

We're hopeful for a new agreement this quarter that would allow USPS side by side with UPS. Howevere FedEx isn't even on the table at this time.

It's hard to say, we seem to be moving along toward our goal but ups is very slow, especially on matters like these.

What is working is complaining to your ups sales rep and getting an exception for your site via ups.

That was going to be my next question. We spend a truck load of money with them each year and should have the pull. What are the right words to use with my rep? What specifically do I need them to do to get the restriction turned off?

Hey sylvia8308,

Just shoot Rick an email if you're a UPS customer. I would hazard to guess that dealing with UPS can be a delicate matter from Miva's perspective. Talking about contractual arrangements in public may make UPS harder to deal with the long run.
