URGENT!!!!!!! Upgrade with Errors

I'm trying to go to a product and this error shows on the product page:

Fatal Error

Miva Merchant has encountered a fatal error and is unable to continue. The following information may assist you in determining the cause of the error:

Error Code: MER-SUI-MMU-00002
Description: Shipping Selection is required and no shipping methods were found. Please contact the administrator directly.

Umm, sounds like you don't have any shipping modules active?

To disable the warning you could try going into the admin > store > settings and uncheck the box that requires shipping

No, this is something new the PR6 update causes specific to IE8 browsers from what we can tell. It occurs when the shippingmethods item is assigned to the prod page I believe. The workaround is to go to the Settings tab under the store settings area, where you'd find headers and footers, colors and all that good stuff and un-check the box that says to require shipping. Miva's looking into the cause of the issue, you can follow it in the pr6 bugs thread.

This is also a good example of why you should not apply updates as soon as they come out, let someone else break their store first. :)

They are active, I didn't change a thing. I just installed the upgrade that was it.

Yes, we have this also on several of our stores. Neeeds a fix!!!
Happens on IE not firefox.

Its not just IE8... I can duplicate the reported problem with FireFox 3.5.1

Or, you can just unassign the "shippingmethods" item from the BASK page to fix this issue. That error occurs when the shippingmethods item is assigned to pages other than OSEL. Miva support is already aware of this bug (and solution) - they are passing it on to development to have it fixed in PR6 moving forward.

Sometimes Miva puts an update offline temporarily when they find a bug that affects everyone, I wonder if it is worth it to put this update on hold for a short period until Development has a fix for it.

Just a thought.

At this time we are not considering this a bug and we have no plans of pulling PR6 because of this issue. We are only seeing this occur in stores that have the shippingmethods item assigned to pages where it shouldn't be.
If anyone has an example of a situation where the shippingmethods item is required to be assigned to a page other than OSEL and it is not working, please email [email protected] so we can take a look.

I'm not on PR6, but the shipping calculator on the BASK screen is a big time favorite of our customers. If we lose this functionality, I would be very sad. PM me for a link/details if needed.

Hi Brandon,

As David Hubbard stated, you can just uncheck the Require Shipping option under Settings and the function will work the same way.
Development is doing some testing right now to see if a separate patch will need to be released for this. For now, unchecking Require Shipping or removing the item from pages where it is not needed will resolve the issue.
