    Admin Bugs

I'm going to add to this thread as I discover any new bugs or have any input on the changes made in 5.5. As of writing this first post, I've had MM5.5 installed for about an hour and have been playing around with it only briefly.
    • Launchpad - When configuring the quick links, the "Products (add/edit)" screen is not available (or I cannot find it maybe?). I see Customers, Inventory and Upsale, but nothing for Products. Categories is another one that I do not see on the list.
    • Feature request: The new admin is crowded - I run my browser at ~1024x900, and there is noticeably less space to work in the new admin. I am really not a fan of the bottom frame and the Miva Merchant Services ads in the left frame. The old admin was a lot cleaner and gave me more room to do stuff. The left frame could also stand to be a lot thinner.
    • CSS/Display bug: There are also some wrapping errors when my browser is not maximized (Customer screen)
    • CSS/Display bug: If there are only a few quick links assigned (1 in my case), then the "Configure shortcuts" and "Launchpad help" links stack and become unusable.
    • Feature request: Bigger text input for "Quick find" and the ability to specify a default. I only use this feature for Customers and I already forget to select "customers" each time I use it. (side note "Please select a link" is not a very helpful error message)

And I ran across an odd thing on the skins already. I tried to apply the "skin1" skin that comes with my store (for the first time), and I was told that 12 images already exist so I couldn't apply the skin. If I can't use the existing images, why give the option? The way I expected it to work was to not update the images (if they exist) unless I checked that box. By not checking the box, I assume it would use whatever images were already uploaded and possibly upload the images that do not exist (similar to a "copy without overwriting" in Windows).

Beta 3 (coming out any day) will have a fair amount of admin changes to make it more 1028 friendly.

      Re: Admin Bugs

      Sounds good.

'Couple more peculiar things with Launchpad/Quick links. If you make a change to a link, the active checkbox does not work. Even if you check it, the quick link will not show up until you go back to the main Launchpad screen (from there you can check the box and hit update).

Also, if you manually type in a Link to go to (I typed in my URL), the "Task" defaults to "Delete Shopping Baskets" and clicking the link loads the admin again inside of the "Main window". I'm sure this is some security thing that defaults the link to the main admin screen if the link is not a Miva link, but it would be cool if it launched another window or something instead. I had intended using this for some other webpages that I use sometimes when Im' in the Miva admin (anti-fraud and customer lookup type things).

          Launchpad/shortcuts:
I'm trying to create a shortcut to "Import Products from Flat File", but each time I do that, the tasks remains whatever the default task is for that particular link. This seems to be true for all Import/Export functions.

That was already reported and is supposed to be fixed in the next release.

              Edit: Thanks, Bill.

              skin1 Skin:
The CSS of this skin requires the body element to have a class of body for the background image to show up. For whatever reason, when I load this skin, the body tag does not receive this class. I did edit the body tag initially to remove the background color from being included in the bgcolor attribute, but I have since reverted back to the Original version. Whenever I reload this skin, the body tag is stripped of the class name again.

Although you won’t see a frame border, this should be fixed in Beta3. Let me know if you're still having issues dragging the frame.

It works in Firefox and IE, but I don't think it works in Safari on Mac.
