Re: Miva Merchant 9 Admin Optimization Requests

I find admin easy and nice. It took some weeks to learn. After learning shortcuts and CTRL-A life became easy.

Another day I was working with Order Processing. I have complete information about orders and I can check all the fields except payment method. I have to view individual record to see it. Not a big deal, but we plan to introduce several different methods soon.
I put myself this on the Murchant Mail Confirmation [Payment:&mvt:payment:desc;]

Updating Catalog and Inventory on GalaxyTab still is not not perfect if one needs to go in product detail screen.
Works with lists but doesn´t always scale with long lists. I do some updating while traveling.
But I guess it is too much to ask.

    Nice initiative, thank you.

I like this idea. I wonder if you (Miva) could leverage the existing code that creates a log when importing a flat file. If that feature could be generalized to other types of modules, that'd be very helpful.

Here's another vote for item #2 above. In some of my modules, I put text into the variable g.Message, which used to come out as the status message at the bottom of the page. Now that doesn't work any more -- and also, as mikel wrote, I think the message needs to stay around longer.

    Thanks --

    1. The update button...I used to be able to tab my way through fields, then tab my way down to the update button and hit the spacebar. For many tasks, I could do this with my eyes closed knowing how many tabs to hit. Now the Update button is at the top and requires I go to the trackpad, find it and click it.

    2. The message that whatever I've updated has been updated comes up, then fades away. Wish it would stay. Sometimes I hit update, swing to another screen to do something else, get distracted and come back later not remembering if I'd actually finished that task. I used to be able to look down and see whether it said updated or not and know. Now that it fades away, its not there to tell me if I did or not (file this under idiot proofing vs usability if you need to).

    3. The bookmarks issue as Bruce mentioned. I've spent some time creating, editing and sorting my bookmarks. It would be nice if we had the option to either import/export so other users could have the same results without duplicating efforts or the option to simply make them admin-wide for everyone.

A lot of it is just getting used to something new after so long but overall, its a huge improvement. Did I mention how much the new search rocks? Wow! Love it!

I came over here from the "venting" thread Rick had closed. I'd still like to see the Pagination work the way it used to - set the the number of items per page and it display that. Right now I'm only seeing 20 per page. I understand that's based on my screen resolution, but what's the point of being able to set the Items per page if it only gets ignored? If I set it to 250, I'd like to be able to see 250 items before going to the next page.

This may already have been requested, but I used the bulk editing feature on the catalog page for the first time today (love it) and darned near killed myself trying to edit product descriptions in that teeny tiny text input. Please make this a text area field when in edit mode.

I really wish the admin breadcrumbs were a lot smarter...

For example I'm on the catalog page > with 400,000 products I of course do a search > Navigate to a product > Need to go back now > It would be a dream if the breadcrumb had the information to bring my previous search back on the catalog screen>

I've been using Bookmarks to setup Step One, Two, Three links to areas they need to access for a specific task. Its FRIGGIN AWESOME (for the most part). Now, they just click Do this: Step 1, Do this: Step 2, etc. Save's a bunch of time...however. Along with that, I'm also bookmarking tools they use often like Edit This!, Template GPS, Optimizer, etc. Trouble is, I have to login as THEM, and manually go through this process. Not sure if many others would use this, but it would be great to be able to Export than Import bookmark (and user preference) settings. This would also be great if you had to change user names or bring on a new admin worker.
Bumping this up cause I didn't see a response. Is this doable? Do you think its warranted? I think it would a HUGE help for integrators/developers framework builders etc to be able to list out the functions they think the store owner would need.

The raw function, could also be used by module developers to offer "add bookmark for this module" when, for example, you have a component module that requires you go to a specific page, then locate its tab.

    Goal is April.

Miminize the need to click things. I have to click to open the menu. I have to click in process orders to select from pulldowns. Items in the pulldown are not in a logical workflow order. I'd like it to load a default view (like all pending orders). It use to default to show me something besides a blank screen. Yet on the products list, it automatically loads everything. Behavior is not the same between screens. Productivity may have been considered and may be implemented in some cases but you missed the mark on the little things. The more times I have to swap between the keyboard and the mouse, the more times I have to click the mouse, the less productive.
