  • Password Protect a product?

Is it possible to password protect a product so that only those who have the password can purchase it? I know we can put a password on the product URL but then people would still be able to find it in our website search box.

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

  • Yeah that's conceptually what availability groups do, you assign users who have the right to see/buy the product.

    • Thanks. What about a new customer that isn't in the group yet?

      • Is this just for one specific product or all products in your store?

If you wanted non-logged in customers who already had the password it would be pretty simple via template code to hide the product until they entered the password.

But I think availability groups may be easier to manage this. You would just need customers to be logged in and part of the groups before they could view the products.

        • Just one specific product.

          • If you want the password restriction to apply without customers logging in, availability groups won't work for you. I have a small utility module that can be used for this kind of job. You can PM or email me for details.
