Password Protect a product?

Is it possible to password protect a product so that only those who have the password can purchase it? I know we can put a password on the product URL but then people would still be able to find it in our website search box.

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

Yeah that's conceptually what availability groups do, you assign users who have the right to see/buy the product.

Is this just for one specific product or all products in your store?

If you wanted non-logged in customers who already had the password it would be pretty simple via template code to hide the product until they entered the password.

But I think availability groups may be easier to manage this. You would just need customers to be logged in and part of the groups before they could view the products.

If you want the password restriction to apply without customers logging in, availability groups won't work for you. I have a small utility module that can be used for this kind of job. You can PM or email me for details.
