    Re: PayFlow Pro down?

I haven't been too pleased with Payflow since PayPal took over. (I've used them for years.) I am sure that fraud service has gone down at least once a month for the past several months. All transactions were stopped in these cases, and the only way I knew something was wrong was if a customer contacted me or I happened to log into Manager. Their attitude about these outages was also not very encouraging or apologetic.

I also know that no provider is perfect. It's hard determining which one is the least unreliable.

        Re: PayFlow Pro down?

I still stand that Payflow Pro beats all other gateways hands down. Since the majority of their users are through partners, it makes sense that they funnel info either to paid support or partners. This helps eliminate thousands of calls from standalone users.

I had no issues getting info from them and streamed out to our clients. And while this outtage lasted several hours, Authorize.net has been known to have outtages lasting for days...

Have you received a explanation of what the cause of today's problems were? I'm still getting the 'engineers are preparing a report' type answers from the support folks; hopefully sales rep will get me the info in the morning.

Does this mean that the outage is fixed? And that there are no intermittent issues?

I thought it was all fixed about 3PM my time. Placed several orders through PFP through my store and voided them in the manager. All was well, then whamo, another order error "Host Not Found".

I'm back on Simple Validation. And would love to know that it is safe to go back to PFP. Anyone?

For the record, the last time AuthorizeNet had an outtage that lasted 'days' was back in 2004 when they upgraded from v3.0 to 3.1 of their payment gateway.

                Re: PayFlow Pro down?

With all the redundancy that we, as hosts, provide just for hosting, it's still amazing that a company the size of and having the resource of PayPal should have to put its clients through any sort of downtime... It happens to the best of them, as they say, but there has got to be a better way to handle these issues if and when they do come up...

How about this as a challenge to the MIVA developers out there... Since these types of problems typically generate connectivity errors, host not found errors, or some other meaningful response that can be intercepted, wouldn't it be possible to design the checkout process in such a way that if the transaction fails because it doesn't get completed using standard real-time payment gateway, a fall back method is used right away? Whether just a Simple CC Validation, or a merchant's own redundant account from a different provider (like Authorize.net or some other gateway)... We have a number of clients who have two or more merchant accounts and payment gateways "just in case" (~$20/month is a small price to pay as insurance in case something does happen to one provider), so switching between two payment gateways is certainly a desirable option from that perspective.

I have not yet received the reason behind it. Like most companies, they'll provide the info after.

Well, you'll never be able to be 100% foolproof. Even Quickbooks Online has to take the service down once in a while for their own updates.

Actually some time ago Darren had created a module and I think it was offered through SB21. I'm having trouble recalling the details, but it was around the time Authorize.net went down for several days during the second MIVA Conference - many of us were stuck on our laptops and phones converting clients to another payment gateway or Simple Validation. Soonafter he created something. Not sure if it's code that is still lying around.

                      Hello,

Does anyone have a definitive answer on the status of this problem. I am still getting the network error when I use payflo pro.

                      Thanks.

Payflow Pro went down again 2/28 - did anyone notice?

I was just responding to a support request from a repeat customer who said her card was declined and she wondered why. I went to Manager and could find no record of her transaction. I checked ELM stats and found what her order number would have been and checked Manager again. That's when I discovered that I had several missing order numbers. It appears the problem began around 3 PM PST, and the successful orders didn't pick up again until approx. 6 or 7 PM PST. There were a couple of customers who successfully placed orders with their PayPal account during that time, but I verified that six orders did not go through.

This may be the last straw.

This is exactly my point. It's been YEARS since my own dedicated server went down for more than a few minutes.

I LOVE this idea, especially in light of Payflow going down yet again on 2/28. I would definitely go for a module like that. $20/mo is a bargain compared to the sales I lost 2-28 alone, not to mention 2-21. In fact, these 2 outages alone would probably pay for a whole year of having a second gateway.

Do any developers think this is a realistic project?

If a network error exists, then simple validation.

As a store owner, working too many hours, I hate losing a customer due to a network error.

                            Thank you.

Payflow Pro went down again yesterday?

I received orders throughout the day yesterday without any hiccups. And checking QwkTracker, not one customer left after submitting payment, meaning they all converted to an order.

                              When did it go down?

I think a manual fallback routine should be built in. Common sense programming I say....The Miva coders should be fixing this ! This isn't something that should depend on the outside dev community to build a fix!

Is Payflow going the way of Linkpoint now or is it believed this was just a temporary glitch and hopefully somebody did the rug dance ??
