I think I found another issue - when sorting products in a category:

Category -> Products -> Sort Descending -> Code

you cannot choose some of the options (ie sort by code) because there is no scroll bar along the side. I have attached a photo. Using Chrome Version 61.0.3163.100 (Official Build) (64-bit)
      Thanks,

I've filed a bug against the MMTextEditor to add a "disable the new editor completely and fall back to the old style of doing it, which is to use normal textareas" setting that will allow you to revert back to using the fckeditor as it was pre-9.7.

Thanks for that - I've looked at the "new" one and suppose I can make it work but will take some getting used to and I've already run into several "I used to be able to do this easily and now I don't see how to do that with this editor". Maybe I will figure out how to do it with some practice.

What happens with a bug report - will we have to wait for 9.08 or will there be some future update that can be applied with this new setting and how will we know when that is available?

Right now, that bug is blocking the next release, which means (barring any complications or things that come up and take priority with quick fix releases and things) it should make it into the next update. Once available, you would just go to Users > Edit users [your username] and check or uncheck a box to toggle the use of the rich text editor vs normal textarea.

Out of curiosity, what types of things have you come across in the "I used to be able to do this easily and now I don't see how to do that with this editor" things have you come across? We definitely have plans to add more stuff (this was just the first release), and it is always good to have helpful input on how others use it in real world scenarios.

Huh. I think this issue has actually been around for a while, but since we added the ability to sort by custom fields (which subsequently added those custom fields to the list in your screenshot), the list has grown longer and made the need for a scrollbar necessary.

MailChimp is not importing product images for us either. Also, the browser's native spellcheck doesn't seem to work in the new editor.

I will look at this new editor some more - it could be the stuff I am used to using in the ADS editor is there but I just don't know where to find it yet.

Is this editor something Miva created or is it something that was taken from someplace else and built into Miva? I might look at some documentation some day.

Now I see if I'm editing a product, there is a Rich Text Editor option to bring up the editor but if I edit a category header/footer, I don't see that option to get into the Rich Text Editor. Why can't I get to the Rich Text Editor on category header and footers? Maybe I will discover how to do that later?

One example might be if I insert a new table of two columns and three rows and I want the first cell to be 35% width - I don't see how to adjust the width of a cell except add the table then adjust it by hand.
There is a Cell Properties but how would I adjust the width of a cell to 35%?
With the other editor I had adjusted the settings so that every time I inserted a table, the first column was always 35% (a popular setting for us) and I didn't have to make any adjustments.

I had also adjusted some settings in the other editor so that if I wanted to insert an image or PDF it filled in the first part with graphics/00000001/ so I would not have to type that every single time I wanted to insert an image then I would just fill in the rest of the path to the image.

Now to insert an image or PDF (or something else) I have to type that in every single time where I could make a mistake and waste lots of keystrokes. I adjusted the settings in the other editor so I never had to type in things like that - many things were prepoulated with what I was going to need the most often.

I want to change the background color of a cell - I found how to do that but I sure don't know the RGB colors for the color we have now - where is that grid prepopulated with colors that I can just click the color/shade I want without having to now figure out some RGB code? Oh I see in our store we like #ccccccc so I have to type that in every single time?
The color picker box says "Drag color from preview here to save" I figured out how to do that now so maybe that will be good.

It I switch to look at the HTML source, it is much harder to read, many lines are all strung together in a long horizontal line (for some things) making it hard to read/look at and make adjustments by hand.

Some of this is a learning curve but at the moment I see great inefficiency compared to what we had before.

I like to think of economy - how can I save typing, clicking, adjusting when I do the same things over and over again? How can I make my efforts more efficient?

Maybe the old editor is obsolete and if there is something better I would like to know what other folks are using (I thought everybody must be using the ADS module!)

I'll give it a chance anyway.

Wit the new Rich Text Editor if I select an image I can't right click it and change the Properties like I used to but see I can change the URI and the Hover text but don't see how to change the alternate text for the image so I have to go back to source mode and edit the source manually to adjust the alt text behind an image?

The alt text is what would show up in a browser if somehow the image is missing and we think it is useful for SEO and if you leave it empty some SEO analyzers will report that as something that needs to be fixed so we use it all the time where we have no image that is missing the alt text behind it.

Most of the time the alt text for use is going to be as good as or the same the product description or the hover text - now I have to change that by hand in the source code?

A couple things re: the MailChimp module. I've run a campaign, and I am getting e-commerce data showing in my MailChimp report. But the date/time field for each transaction in MailChimp is showing a date of December 31, 1969, 7:00PM. I'm wondering if there's a field that isn't being passed to MailChimp correctly. (Screenshot of my MailChimp e-commerce transaction report attached.)

I too am not seeing product images showing in the MailChimp reports. Product names are there. I'm wondering if Miva is providing MailChimp with an image field value as a URL and since I don't have that set up correctly if that's what the problem is there. Can someone from Miva comment on whether my assumption here is correct and, if so, which field in the product export file is the one being sent to MailChimp. It would be easy enough to populate that data in a spreadsheet and upload it to Miva if this is the case.

Since I haven't been a fan of any attempts to include any sort of WYSIWYG in the admin, I didn't know about the ADS module (my apologies). I'm going to have to see how the inclusion of the test editor will affect Scot's Clicked module (I like it because the editing it offers is not in the store admin but on the actual page needing editing).

I have been voicing my concerns regarding the inclusion of a text editor for quite some time so I greatly appreciate your detailed concerns and comparisons. I think my number one concern has been not being able to use font styles from the stylesheets of a site. WYSIWYG type editors include their own font faces may not (and usually don't) match up with the look & feel of a site. So I would at least like to be able to set from the store's stylesheets.

So I'm hoping that Miva will pick your brain and use your positive experiences with the ADS module (which I see is still for sale on the developer's site).

                        Many thanks - Leslie

I will try to keep my whining to myself or if you want to open a new topic just about this Rich Text Editor (cant' fine this, doesn't have the ability to...) I will be happy to whine instead there.

The ADS is the only one I know how to use effectively - once I found the FCK files on our server I adjusted them to do my bidding,

I emailed the ADS folks earlier so if they have something useful to say I will post back what I hear.

I don't "mind" what now looks like lots of hand editing of HTML but it will sure slow things down or maybe I will find something to replace it,

Never heard of Scot's Clicked but will check it out.

Have you verified Scot's still works with 9.07 - or I guess it must since it is somehow outside of Miva admin.

I am going to find my install of Scot's Clicked and check it. I'll also reach out to him. He's working on something really cool right now so may not have had a chance to look into this.

                                Hi Rthomasdesign

I will ask a Dev about the MailChimp product images and if that is supported. As for the browsers native spell check, there is a setting under the Users > edit user > settings tab to enable or disable that. By default it is disabled because depending on the browser it might cause some lag.
