I'm not sure what Empresa version it is...Miva was setup by my client's
host and I'm a novice with this so far. Please advise if there is some
way for me to find out.

Chuck,
I believe you have to take it out of test mode in both Merchant and
Authorizenet. Did you change both?

I just took Authorize.net out of test mode for a client. Placed an order,
and got a confirmation that still says Test Mode. Here's the top of the
e-mail I got:
************* TEST MODE *************
========= GENERAL INFORMATION =========
Merchant: JR BECK MUSIC PRODUCTS INC
Date/Time: 08-Jan-2004 10:44:53 AM
========= ORDER INFORMATION =========
Invoice: 1019
Description: Miva Merchant Order
Amount: 1.05 (USD)
Payment Method : MasterCard
Does this mean it's still in test mode? If so, how do I get it OUT of test
mode? I unchecked the Test Mode box...
Thanks.

rats... enter button mania struck.. I wasn't finished... but I think you all
get the idea..
Actually this module idea was pretty well outlined on this list the last
time it came up...
complete with a wish list of how it would function and fields it would allow
data entry for.
I'd like to see drop downs for month day and year too as well as a quick
selection calendar like the airline websites use.. very cool and intuitive
and easy for the person entering data (yet the drop down for date stuff
exists too in case the javascripted calendar thing messes up).
A module like this would also have to include the same funcitionality of the
discount groups for display purposes that way all the code that's been
written around that display functions would still work... that means
everyone who uses any discount type module that works this way... an most of
them do... could still be used along side this particular module also.
Wouldn't it be great to set up items for sale starting thanksgiving day or
the day after christmas... and not have to sit there away from family for 2
or 3 hours doing the work... and the sale will just go on automatically?!
Wouldn't it be great to be able to actually be able to schedule a vacation
at our own leisure and not be tied to working around our store's schedule...
the internet is supposed to free us and make things more flexible... the
tools to do this exist... I"m just surpized no one has done this before.

Actually a large text box is easier and alot faster. Users can make a
flat file with a text editor or spreadsheet exported to flat file, then
copy and paste it. Individual inputs require filling in each item, then
submit. Then doing the same for the next item.

But coupon scheme is not that great from a store point of view.
I want to tease my customers with an IN YOUR FACE see the savings
sale. Telling them at the end that they can use a coupon sucks, having to
manually change out category and product headers to tell them about the
coupon (so it will be in thier face)
sucks, I want it automated. I want to be able to have a module that I can
add product code to with a variable discount based on percent or a flat

I wouldn't even mind a big single text area box to enter stuff like this
into
product code|discountamount|pct or flat $|startdate|enddate
personally I think actual individual form fields is neater and easier from a
user standpoint - since I don't want to have to train my data entry people
in this so this would be better...

You can also do this with StoreMan (by percentage or flat rate).

If all the sales prices were for the same percentage discount...
You could use default price groups and combine that with show discount for a
really neat slick
way to do a sale... and all the regular prices would show along with the
discount that the customer would pay... along with a "you save x% ($x.xx)"
message.
But it won't expire the items... you'll have to manually do that.

I realize that this isn't the same, but if I were in your place and
couldn't find a module that would do it better, I'd just do the price
changes in StoreMan. First I'd export the current product list into a
spreadsheet, which I'd make a backup of. Then I'd make price changes in
the exported spreadsheet and import back in. When the day comes to
change prices back, I'd re-import the spreadsheet back in. Of course, if
product descriptions or other fields have changed during the sale
period, I'd import spreadsheets of the old prices and new prices into
Access so I could then export a query that would have all the updates
plus the non-sale prices.
Not nearly as cool as having it happen automatically at a given time,
but a lot esier than doing it by hand! And if you had a lot of items
that need to have sale prices (that cannot be calculated based on a
percentage) this might actually be a lot easier than a module in Miva
(personally, I hate entering large amounts of data into Web forms).

Actually one of my percent off by category modules does it too. You can
specify 4 trigger levels to vary the discount based on amount
purchased. Then you can set a date in the future for when the sale will
no longer discount the order. The discount occurs at checkout after
other discounts (coupons, etc) have been considered.
