What began as a small, 500-product store in 2005 has grown to one-stop resource for all types of electronics, containing over 8,000 different products with more added everyday. WFC credits their growth to the decision to switch their ecommerce platform to Miva Merchant in 2007.

Stores like this one, which allow customers to navigate a wide variety of products and modify their search criteria based on specific attributes, require customization abilities that basic ecommerce and shopping cart solutions do not always allow for.

“We were looking for a cart that was search engine friendly, customizable in terms of design and features, scalable for our growing business, and allowed us to select the hosting provider,” says Pat Pepe, owner of West Florida Components.

“At an industry conference, we met up with a website designer who urged us to look at Miva Merchant,” adds Pepe. “We loved the flexibility of Miva Merchant and knew that it would be able to grow with us as our product base grew. One of the things we checked out was the community forums. We saw how many developers and users frequented the forums and how often Miva Merchant staff posted on the forums. We were impressed by how active it was.”

In addition to searching for products by various attributes and by brand, customers can also take advantage of onsite learning tools and product guides to help them learn more about the types of products that are best for them.

Unlike most online stores that sell electronic products and components at wholesale prices, WFC also has a no minimum order policy, allowing customers who wish to order a small or varied amount of products to take advantage of bulk pricing discounts.

“Since the beginning,” says Pepe, “we have adopted many customer friendly policies that have helped us grow quickly. We have a ‘no questions asked’ returns policy but it is our ‘no minimum order’ policy that allows us to stand out among our many competitors.”
